A real estate Agent otherwise known as a Realtor is a Person whose job is to help house Owners would wish to sell their house, find good buyer for the house. With the rise and boom in the real estate business world, being a real estate Agent is has turned into a lucrative business, though the job can be very stressful, but the benefits are worth the stress. In any real estate market, there are always two Agents involved, the buyer’s agent and the seller’s agent. The buyer’s agents help in looking for good houses for house buyers while seller’s agents help house Owners sell their already existing houses. Most times, these agents work independently or the work for bigger companies known as brokers. It is the broker that will determine the percentage the real estate agent will charge for the transaction.

The percentage which is known as a commission is a percentage from the total amount of the transaction. In most countries, this percent ranges from 5 percent to 15 percent of the total amount. This means that in a deal of N1,000,000 and the agent agrees to collect 5 %, it means that after a successful complete of the transaction, the agent will be paid N50,000. The commission is shared between the broker and the agent or just the agent alone if the agent is working independently.
