During the inauguration ceremony of the now Governor Ayodele Fayose who has once of the state from 2001 to 2003; he made a promise that he will revive and maintain the Stomach Adjustment Infrastructure (SAI) scheme to take care of the masses, most people present during the ceremony most have assumed the speech as one of the many promises typical of Nigerian politicians when being sworn into office of which they fulfill none.

It came as a surprise to many during the Christmas period; on the 21st to 24th when a massive move was made governor Fayose to implement the Stomach Adjustment Infrastructure scheme. On the sad days, not less than 80,000 live chickens where given out to citizens who trooped in their numbers to the government house to get their share of the goodies. It was also said that over 100,000 bags of rice was distributed and cash which according to the governor was to enable the people purchase other condiments like oil, salt and tomatoes to go with the chicken and rice.

Though this move is a welcomed development, there have been criticisms to this Stomach Adjustment Infrastructure by many people who deem the scheme as unnecessary because;

Some have criticized that the program will only make people to be dependent on the state government for their daily bread instead of working hard to eke out a living for themselves. But I think it's a good thing that should be continued for the sake of the elderly and those who might not be immediately able to fend for themselves. In the long term however, the best way to help the people is to empower them and provide them with gainful employment opportunities’ and not just to distribute food stuffs once in a while.
