Tips to get graduate jobs in Nigeria

Nigeria is a Country where tens of thousands of Students graduate each year from various Institutions of higher learning, both private and Government owned but more than half of those Graduates are Unemployed and most people who are employed are under-employed. The task of getting a good job after graduation has turned to a major concern for both Students who are still in school and Graduates who are yet to find a decent job and the few jobs which are available are scrambled for by a lot of people.
The question now is what a person must do in order to prepare His or Herself to get a good job after graduation? This article would mention a few points that can help a Fresh graduate stand out, in order to get a good job.

- ADD MORE VALUE TO YOURSELF EVEN AFTER GRADUATION: A lot of People think that all they need to do to get a good job is to graduate with good graduates from the Higher Institution, if it were so; a lot of Graduates would not be roaming around looking for jobs, because there would have been available jobs for them. Times have changed; there is a whole lot of competition out there, so in order to stand out and be noticed you have to add more value to yourself. It could be also, learning new skills; it can be Communication skills, marketing skill, Programming skills, and Leadership Skills etc. It could be working to become better in your chosen Career or attending seminars. All these would make you stand apart in the face of competition.

- DEVELOP THE ABILITY TO THINK CREATIVELY: Ideas rule the world, and why most Graduates are unemployed is because they don’t have the ability to come up with creative ideas, and anybody that does not have this ability cannot add value to anything or anybody. Every Company need people that will add value for them and help them reach their goals, so they would avoid anybody who can’t think creatively and come up with better ideas that would add value to the Organization. Developing the ability for Creative thinking takes a whole lot of Personal discipline and Mentorship to be developed and it would help you stand out.

- SELL YOURSELF WHEN YOU GO FOR A JOB INTERVIEWS: The benefits of this cannot be over emphasized. It helps your Interviewers know your abilities and special skills that you posses. It also helps them know what they stand to gain by employing you. The next time you go for an interview, remember to sell yourself, but don’t let it look as if you are doing so.

This points listed above will not only make you stand out, it also would keep you on edge when you’re faced with competition. So immediately you graduate, strive to add more value to yourself not just your certificate, because the value you place on yourself will be the same value others will place on you. Work on your creativity and remember to sell yourself the next time you are called for an interview.
