According to various statistics made in the country, over 88% of Nigerian percent are unemployed or under employed; don’t know how true this fact is, but when you compare the number of graduates being churned out of the NYSC program every year to the number of jobs created to gainfully employ these graduates, you will know that there is an atom of truth in the statistics figure. Knowing that the labour market is very competitive, care must be taken by graduates in the labour market to make them stand out enough to occupy the few jobs openings available.

Let’s look at things required to get a graduate job in Nigeria:

1. Graduate Degree: you need to have a degree or evidence that you attended a higher institution for you to secure a graduate job, and not just a degree; you also need to graduate with very good results.

2. Resume: your resume are your qualifications in your field, both academically and other wise; graduates are always encouraged to build their resume and not just depend on the degree; you can go for your Masters, you can take Professional courses in your field and you can also attend seminars and training, all these will help to boost your resume.

3. Job Vacancy: you have to find a means where you can get updates of available job vacancies in your field; you can purchase National Dailies, or you can register in any of the job listing sites where you can be sent notifications on job vacancies related to your field.
