5 Nigerian Fruits that promote long life

For a healthy and long life, we are advised to eat more of fruits and vegetables; here in Nigeria, most of the indigenous foods we have are staple food or starchy food; to make up for the imbalance, taking a larger quantity of fruits are advised. Let’s look at five Nigerian fruits that can promote long life;

1. Palm Kernel: also known as palm fruit is a red fruit that we add as a major ingredient for the preparation of Banga stew; the fruit have a high content of Vitamin A which is good for a clear eye sight.

2. Mangoes: the mango season comes just before the Easter break around March and is available till sometime in May; mango contains antioxidants that help the body to fight against cancerous cells inside the body. The fruit is also a good source of Vitamin C.

3. Oranges: this citrus fruit comes with a very high Vitamin C content; it helps the body to fight against scurvy. Oranges also helps the digestive system function properly by preventing constipation.

4. Bananas: this is a good source of energy and iron for the body; iron is needed in a sizable quantity to help the body produce red blood cells. Anybody that feels tired easily is advised to take banana to restore lost energy. It is said that bananas can replace your meals.

5. African Start Apple: this is the popularly called Udara by the Igbos or Agbolimo by the Yorubas. The fruit is a good source of Vitamins A and still has a little quantity of Vitamin C in it.
