Health benefits of eating boiled groundnuts

I am always expectant of the groundnut season, when little children fill their trays with boiled groundnuts to hawk around to sale to Passer-by; most people just eat boiled groundnut with little or no knowledge of its nutritional value.

Some of the health benefits of eating boiled groundnuts and reasons why you should eat more of it;

1. It Reduces Risk of Colon Cancer: one of the popular forms of cancer is the colon cancer and boiled groundnuts contain nutrients that helps inhibit or subdue the growth of cancerous cells in the colon.

2. It is High in Proteins: apart from beans and peas, groundnut is the third highest food with very high quantity of proteins; and the body requires proteins in very high quantity for growth, replace damaged cells and also proper functioning of the body organs. In fact Dietitians these days encourage people to eat more of proteins than any other class of food.

3. It Good for the Heart: people that include boiled groundnut in their daily diet requirement have a lower risk of developing any heart related problem like heart failure when compared to people that donít eat groundnuts; unlike what most people assume that too much groundnut is bad for the heart

4. It has Good Fats: Though it is said that groundnut contains fats, the fat content is the mono saturated fats which is needed by the body; also research has shown that boiled groundnuts helps to reduce the cholesterol level in the body.
