Okra Soup is a delicacy not just in Nigeria but also in Middle Eastern countries like India. The main ingredient used in the preparation of this soup is the okra, which is a green fruity vegetable. A lot of people enjoy the Okra soup without knowledge of the numerous health benefits that can be derived from the food. In this article, I will discuss some of the major health benefits you derive from eating the Okra soup:

1. It's Low in Calories: Okra soup has very low calorie content when compared to other soups like Egusi and Bitter leaf soups, since Okra soup is made up of vegetables. People that wish to loose weight are advised to eat more of Okra soup than melon soup that has very high calorie content.

2. It contains Some Important Nutrients: I mentioned earlier that Okra soup contains mostly green leafy vegetables; and these are good source of iron which is a mineral that helps the body to produce red blood cells and also supply oxygen from lung into the blood stream. It contains other nutrients like fibre which aides for easy digestion of food, Vitamins A, C and K are also found in good quantity in Okra soup.

3. Good For Pregnant Women: pregnant women are advised to include Okra soup in their diets; this is because Okra is said to help babies in their formative stage to prevent abnormalities.
