Paying for electricity bills online in Nigeria

Gone are those days when you have to spend virtually a whole day in PHCN office in order to pay your monthly electrical bills. With the advancement of technology and the internet, you can now pay your electricity bill without stress or spending much time. You can either make your payment in banks, ATM transfers or payment using mobile money or point of sale machine (POS). Let’s look at how you can pay your electricity bill through the internet.

PHCN launched an online payment platform called Electricity Payment System (EPS) that allows Customers pay their electricity bills on and get a printout of their e-receipt instantly. The EPS program was done as a partnership between PHCN and major banks in Nigeria.

HOW TO PAY FOR YOUR ELECTRICITY BILL ONLINE:

- You can pay your electricity bills from the comfort of your home through an online platform using your credit card.

- Visit the Quickteller.com site, scroll down to the payment of utility bill column and click on the PHCN post-paid.

- You will be brought to a new page where you will be required to fill in your details

- Enter your phone number, email address, your Customer account and click on next

- You will be asked to verify your payment details – after verifying your payment details you will be brought to a page where you will add the amount you are paying

- Click on next to be redirected to an interswitch payment portal, inter your account details; name, credit card details and then click on pay. The money will be deducted from your account with an extra N100 service charge

- You will be sent to a page where you can print out your e-receipt and a notification and will be sent to your number and an email address.

Prepaid customers can also make use of the Quickteller website to purchase meter tokens online using a similar approach as above. The meter tokens will be sent to your mobile phone through sms.
