Have you ever considered how fascinating the relationship between the kind of clothes we wear and our religion. Fashion in general gets its cue from a lot of things with religion being one of the most influencing. Our mode of dressing in some form is considered to be a symbol of what religion we follow or adhere to.

Let us consider the two major religions prevalent in Nigeria - Christianity and Islam. The two religions are known for their emphasis on the clothing morality. Morality is considered intertwined with dress styles especially in recent past and since religion is centered on morality, it invariably plays a role on how people dress. These two religions contain doctrines and clearly stated instructions/laws that talk about how its members are supposed to dress. Their women even go as far as frequently putting on attire that will allow them to cover their heads

Amongst these two, the religion where religion's effect on how we dress is very obvious is the Islam, where most of its members usually pay complete allegiance to the Koran. The Koran states clearly about how modest their dress ought to be.

For Christians, dressing well is considered important and the way or manner it should be worn should be out of neighbourly love. Both Muslims an Christians are urged to dress in a manner which will help upkeep the moral fabric of the society and not lead people to do violent or evil acts.

How we dress is a major indicator of our belief and how committed we are to its tenets and system.
