Soccer is one of the oldest games in modern human history always been a public event that fascinates viewers. In recent times and with the inception of many popular leagues like UEFA, FA cup, CAF and competitions such as world cup, people’s interest in watching soccer has increased considerably.

Major leagues are normally played periodically and people dedicate their time to watch these matches especially if it is their favourite team that is playing. Some even go to the extent of placing a bet on which team to win a match.

Let’s look at some of the reasons why people love watching football;

- It helps build unity among fans: When people watch soccer, they develop a common spirit and this means that they have this feeling of connection and brotherhood spirit. This happens mostly if they fans or supporters of the same football team. Fans rejoice together when their team wins a match and are sad when they loose a match.

- Entertainment: Apart from the brotherhood thing, another reason people love watching soccer is because it is a good type of entertainment. People use it as a means of relaxation to wind down after the stressful activities of the week, since most major leagues are played during the weekends or the evenings. People hang out with their friends to watch these matches as it is more entertaining when watched as a group. The skills and the way the game is played tends to entertain people such as passes, free-kicks, corners and goals.

- Leisure: People watch soccer also as a way of spending their time rather than being idle.

- Learning: People also watch football in order to learn more about the game. Some people who are interested in playing better football normally watch soccer matches to learn few new playing skills and tips.
