How IrokoTV is promoting Nollywood

IrokoTv is an entertainment company that is into the business of offering streaming tv and videos mostly produced by Nollywood. It shows only Nollywood and Ghollywood via live steaming over the internet.

Irokotv has a huge collection of over 5,000 movies both old and recent movies and its being updated on daily basis. Irokotv allows visitors watch movies with their devices, but for now, they only support laptops and PCs but they are working on creating Android and IOS apps that will allow mobile phone and tablet users access and watch movies with their devices on the site.

For a monthly subscription fee of $5, Irokotv gives Visitors unlimited access to the website to watch as many movies as they want through the one month period, but they are not allowed to download any of the movies.

So far, irokotv has not only made watching Nollywood movies easy, it has helped in promoting the Nollywood movie industry through the following:

- Irokotv has helped bring global recognition to the Nollywood industry by creating a site where Nollywood movies can be watched through a video live streaming. This makes it possible for anybody anywhere in the world to visit the site and watch any nollywood movie available in the site and this includes both Nigerians abroad and foreigners alike.

- IrokoTV allows Africans abroad to stay connected to Nollyood. The internet makes this possible and since most VCDs and DVDs produced in Nigeria are not readily available in those foreign countries despite the high demand for it, Irokotv makes it easier for those in diapora to get entertained even though they are outside Nigeria. Customers would be able to watch some of the latest movies from Nigeria almost as soon as they are released through the internet.

- By advertising Irokotv on social media sites and search engines, Irototv is indirectly promoting Nollywood movies and the industry as a whole.

- Irokotv recently ventured into production of DVD copies of movies. This is for people who live in areas that have low internet bandwidth and can not access the internet to watch the movie via video stream. By so doing, irokotv helps in the distribution of nollywood movies especially outside the Nigeria.
