Why some Nigerians prefer Pay TV to Free TV

Pay TV in this instance has to do with TV channels you pay a monthly or quarterly subscription to get access to; for instance Cable TV, MYTV, GOTV and DSTV, while free TV, you don’t pay a dime to have access to them. Most people will naturally go for the Free TV in a country like Nigeria where people are eager to get the next free thing; but people that place more value on their TV time, will prefer to subscribe for Pay TV. Let’s look at some of the reasons why Nigerians prefer Pay TV to Free TV:

1. Access to More TV Channels: free TV gives you access to very few numbers of local channels; but with pay TV you have access to a whole lot of Channels from across the world. A Satellite TV like DSTV gives you access to over 200 channels which is unheard of if you are using Free TV.

2. Unlimited Entertainment: I mentioned earlier that Pay TV gives you access to a large number of TV channels and that invariable means that you have access to unlimited entertainment to keep you busy all day long; no matter your preferred choice of entertainment, whether Sports, Music, Movies, Fashion, Food, News you will get access to channels that show each of them with a Pay TV subscription.

3. Special Features: there are some special features that comes with Pay TV that you can’t have access to with Free TV; for instance, some Pay TV decoders allows you to record your favourite TV programme to watch later.
