The TV is one communication medium widely used for transmitting sounds and images. The word TV which is the short for television is sometimes used to refer to a device through which these sounds and images are transmitted. At other times, it is used to refer to a program or transmission. Prior before now, the main ways by which we watch television were through over-the-air broadcast before the introduction of cable and satellite TV. Now taking over is the internet TV. For the case of this article, we are looking at the word television in terms of TV transmission. Our focus and emphasis will primarily be the cable TV and internet TV which are the recently dominating ways of watching television.

Cable TV
The cable TV is a system of television broadcasting where the transmission is only made to those that have subscribed to it by paying a particular service fee. This transmission involves the use of coaxial cable distribution lines which must be available on the utility poles or lines. These cables now bring in the TV signals into buildings where they are needed.

Internet TV
On the other hand, internet TV also known as online TV involves transmission over the internet. This is to say that we can watch our usual TV programs and other video content via the internet. This is basically made possible by video streaming technology. This is increasingly gaining popularity as a result of the invention of smart phones and other similar devices. With this recent technology you don't even have to depend on cable service to watch your favorite shows. Sometimes it even goes further to give you additional information about the movies which normally won't be available except online.

One of the advantages that the internet TV has over the cable TV is that there are a lot of stations available some of which might not be available on the cable TV. There are over 5,000 television stations online around the world which you can watch. All that is required is your laptop/ PC or even smart phones. With the internet you get to keep up with your TV shows and programs without a monthly fee to pay. This TV channels include News TV, Music TV, Sport TV, Cartoons TV, Entertainment TV Movies TV, Games TV, Funny TV, Celebrities TV, Fashion TV, Education TV, and the list just goes on.

There is more over the internet TV than the cable TV. There are so many Web sites that offer independently produced programs that are targeted towards people with specific interests. With the internet there is flexibility in determining what program you want to watch. For example you want to watch a show on cooking; you can easily locate one on the internet compared to your regular television. With a cable TV you are restricted to watching TV only in your home or office since it will require having a cable distribution line on a utility poles or line, but with internet TV technology you can watch TV anywhere you go and where ever you are with your phone or PC with internet access.
