Benefits of using past questions to study for JAMB

In as much as it is important to study your textbooks and notebooks while preparing for JAMB, it is also very important to use past questions while preparing for JAMB.

Some Student ignore this simple exercise of studying their past questions because they think it’s not important or that it is just time consuming, Which ever way a Student views it, this article will mention some major benefits of making out time to go through past questions while preparing for JAMB.

- Saving time on repeat questions: Over the years, it has been observed that most of the past questions are repeated in current exams. While some questions are repeated verbatim, others are twisted a little. Studying paper question makes you prepared to target any of the questions if it’s repeated. While you are studying and solving the past question, you get to know the solution to that question; it makes it easier for you to solve such question when you see it in the exam, since you have already learnt to tackle the question before the exam.

- Exam experience: Studying with past questions gives you the feel of how the exam is, the number of questions you are mean to answer on each subject, time set to answer the questions. You can also use it to run a practice exam on yourself, to check your performance and improve in areas where you performed badly. This helps Candidates especially those writing the exam for the first time to build their confidence before the day of the exam.

- Mental alertness: The more one studies past questions, the more he becomes mentally alert and capable of attempting such questions in the form they are normally presented. It becomes easier to do calculations and reasoning when such questions are faced again in the exam.
