Sex education has to do with giving a child basic information about sex. It involves teaching about male and female reproductive systems, how reproduction takes place and prevention of sex related problems. This is one topic parents shy away from teaching their children, because they think they are not ready. Sex education is very important as soon as a child comes of age, and coming of age in this context refers to when the child gets to puberty; at the onset of puberty.


- It can help prevent Teenage Pregnancy: One of the reason why most teenage girls get pregnant is because they were not given adequate sex information when they came of age, the lack of sex education made them unprepared to handle sex properly and to know that they should practice safe sex by using adequate protective measures. It also teaches teenage girls how their body works, and to what to do when they notice some changes in their body.

- It helps reduce cases Of Sexually Transmitted Diseases: There are many sexually transmitted diseases in existence now in the likes of gonorrhoea, syphilis, and the deadly HIV /AIDS, and these disease are spreading like wide fire as each day passes by, and the number one cause of this unprotected sex, which in most cases was because the parties involved were not adequately informed through sex education that people need to practice safe sex habits to avoid contamination of sexually transmitted diseases.

- It helps to teach self control: It provides students with tips on how to control their sexual urges and why they should wait till they are married.
