If you've got a Nigerian issued Visa or Mastercard, whether it's a debit or credit card, Amazon.com does accept it as a valid means of making payment based on my experience.

I've bought quite a variety of stuff from the US based Amazon shopping website right here in Nigeria and simply make use of a US shipping service to finally ship it to me in Nigeria. The US shipping service basically gives me a US shipping address and account that allows me to buy things on Amazon and get it shipped to my Nigerian address in as little as working days after it has been received at my US address/warehouse.

Since Amazon does accept Visa and Mastercard, it doesn't matter which bank or country that is has been issued it but as long as your bank has activated it for global use, you can start buying things on Amazon and be able to pay in Naira or US dollars depending on the currency of your card.

One of the things I normally buy on Amazon are their gift cards. Amazon's Gift cards are a form of credit you get that allows you settle your shopping bills on Amazon without the need for a credit or debit card. With a gift card, you can pay for other things you've bought and so it's basically Amazon's own digital currency. I have been able to pay for gift cards using my Naira and USD debit cards and I was billed in Naira and USD respectively on several occasions.

You can buy a lot of things on Amazon and have them shipped to Nigeria using a third party. You can buy stuff like car spare parts, clothes, sneakers, curtains, bed sheets, computer accessories, mobile phones, tablets, laptops and so on.

When buying stuff, one of the things you have to consider is the shipping cost. Heavy and large items tend to cost more when shipping to Nigeria. You can however save money in shipping by using ocean freight providers who would normally ship them through sea ports. For faster shipping however, you should make use of air courier service providers.

When shopping on Amazon, you can save money on shopping by taking advantage of shopping discounts and promos. There are a lot of promos going on during public holidays and celebrations such as Christmas, Easter, mother's day, father's day, Independence day and so on. There are also daily deals on Amazon on consistent basis that you can take advantage of.

Why should Nigerian shop on Amazon? Well, there are probably a lot of things you might need in Nigeria but due to the fact that it's not readily available or way too overpriced in Nigeria, it would then make sense to buy them on Amazon.

Amazon currently doesn't offer direct shipping to Nigeria except if you were buying some small stuffs like books, T-shirts and DVDs. However, you can always get anything you want on Amazon by making use of a US based international shipping provider and just pay with your Nigerian issued card.
