How to avoid car accidents

In our world of today, there are now more cars than before and our roads are more busy than they used to in the past. It is much easier to get involved in a car accident in as little as 5 seconds of losing focus and it is normally an ugly experience even when they are only minor.

Tens of thousands of people die yearly from car related accidents and a good number also pay fees for damaging other cars. Car accidents are the most popular type of accidents associated with travelling. It can occur as a result of bad roads, poor driving skills by other drivers, drunk driving or getting distracted while driving.

1. Get proper training: One of the main causes of car accidents is poor driving skills by drivers. Car drivers should endeavour to attend proper driving schools that would teach them the rudiments of driving a car on the road. Things like reading road signs, using car tools and safe driving tips are important.

2. Use Defensive Driving Skills: Defensive driving is a form od driving that goes beyond knowing how to get a lawful driver on the road. It has to do with driving in such as way as to protect lives, time, and money even when other drivers are in the wrong. It helps you to anticipate accidents and then act in such a way as to prevent it. It is better to just avoid them than getting involved in the first place.

Defensive driving has to do with driving to keep safe and also for the safety of other road users. Some safe driving tips include; avoid over speeding because it is one the major causes of car accidents.

3. Observe Road Signs: Most drivers are careless when it comes to observing road signs. These traffic signs are meant to serve as guide to road users, but some people choose to ignore these signs. Always observe your traffic signs; it will help you safe from accidents so that you don't get hit or get to hit another car. Stop at Zebra crossings for people to pass and don't be too much in a haste to reach your destination. Road signs will tell you when to go left, right or stop. You'd get to also when to make a u-turn and when not to.

4. Don't Overspeed: Speed is one of the major cause of car accidents. Some people are just addicted to speeding when they are on the road. Well, if you love speed, you could go to the expressways and satisfy your speed needs as often as you want but when you are on a busy road, learn to slow down as there are many other cars around. No matter how fast or slow you drive, learn to be in control of your speed. Don't speed beyond your control. Most drivers who hardly get card accidents hardly Overspeed. It is safer to just be a tortoise on the road than being a cheetah.

5. Don't drink and drive: it is against the law in most countries to drive when your blood alcohol level is above the stipulated limits. Avoid driving anytime you are drunk.

6. Concentrate: Driving requires full concentration and alertness of the senses, for instance, some drivers receive calls while driving. Don’t engage in any other activity that will take your concentration off the road while you drive. Things like talking on the phone, eating, arguing, sleeping and so on can lead you to car accidents. If you can't concentrate on driving at any particular time, it's always good to just park your car until when you are ready to concentrate at driving.
