In Nigeria, the road transport system is more widely used than other transport systems like air and water. On daily basis, millions of cars ply Nigerian roads to transport Passengers and goods from one part of the country to another.

In this country, different vehicles are used for transportation in Nigeria. This article will look into major vehicles used in transportation in Nigeria.

The Popular Vehicles used for Transportation in Nigeria:

- Motorcycles: This is popularly used for short distances within a local government and for trips that take about 5 to 10 mins. They are popularly called Okadas in Lagos state and can only carry 2 persons at a time which includes the driver and the passenger.

- Tricycles: This is also known as Keke, Keke Napep or Keke Marwa. This is a three wheeled vehicle used for transportation of Persons and less bulky goods. A tricycle can carry about 4 Persons at a time and is not usually used for a long distance journey.

- Buses: These buses come in different company brands and are called different names such as hummer bus. It can contain between 14 to 18 Passengers at a time, depending on the number of seats available in the vehicle. Buses are used in transportation of Passengers and goods and it commonly used for trips across local government areads within a state and for inter state travels. It is commonly referred to as Danfo in Lagos state.

- Cabs/Taxis: These are vehicles that transport Passengers from one location to another inside the same city or within the same state. Vehicles used for taxis are usually small cars like Golf, Peugeot 505, Toyota Camry and other smaller vehicles in this range.

- Luxurious Buses: These types of buses are owned by registered transport companies and are used in transportation of People and bulky goods. A luxurious bus can contain over a hundred people at a time and are mostly used by People who wish to transport bulky goods from one location to another, usually in another state. It is commonly use for inter-state and inter-city transportation.
