Airtel is the first Communication network to introduce the extra credit service. The extra credit service allows Customers that do not have airtime in their mobile line to borrow airtime from the telecommunication network provider and pay back at subsequent recharge. So with this service, you don’t have to worry about running out of airtime while making that very important call.

To be able to make use of the Airtel extra credit service, you must fulfill the following criteria;

- Your line must be up to 3 months old
- You must be a prepaid Customer and you line must be active.
- You must have paid off all the airtime borrowed previously.

Also, it is worth mentioning that to borrow N50 or N100, you must have used minimum of N250 worth of recharge card credit that month. To request for N250 worth of recharge card, you are expected to have used up to N1000 worth of recharge card for that month, and to borrow N 500, you are expected to have used over N2, 500 worth of airtime that month.

To borrow airtime from Airtel, dial *500# and choose the amount you want, N50, N100, N200 or N500. But to shorten the whole process, you can use the code listed below to make the process easier.
- Dial *500*50# for N50, Dial *500*100# for N100, Dial *500*200# for N200, ad finally dial *500*500# to collect N500.

After you are given the extra airtime, the amount will be collected from the next recharge you make, and you are required to pay current outstanding loans before you can borrow in the future.
